Privacy 

This site is run by Paul Steenkamp, a writer and speaker based in Cape Town. This page says what information the site collects, why it collects it, and how to have it corrected or removed. It follows South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, POPIA, and holds to that standard for every visitor, wherever you live.
 

What the site collects, and why. The enquiry form asks for your name, your organisation, what your enquiry is about, your dates and your message, along with your email address so you can be answered. Those details are used to answer you, and for nothing else. The newsletter signup asks for your email address, which is used to send you the letter; every email carries an unsubscribe link. The tell-me-when-it-opens list asks for your email address, which is used to tell you when the assessment opens. It joins the newsletter only if you choose that separately. Like most sites, this one also uses a small number of cookies to understand how its pages are used. [Settle this sentence in step 7.]
 

Who sees your details. Your details sit with the services that run this site, its inbox and its mailing lists, and those services use them only to do that work. This site runs on Wix, which also handles its forms and mailing lists. We don't sell details, and we share them only where the law requires it.
 

How long they're kept. Enquiries are kept as ordinary correspondence. List addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Ask for your details to be erased and they will be, unless the law requires a record to stay.
 

Your rights. You can ask what the site holds about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be erased, or object to how it's used. Email paul@paulsteenkamp.com and you'll hear back within two working days. If the answer doesn't satisfy you, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
 

Children. This site isn't aimed at children and doesn't knowingly collect their information.

Changes. If this notice changes, the change is made on this page and the date below moves. Last updated 1 August 2026.
