KEEPING COMPANY
with the Back-to-Back World Cup-Winning Rugby Team

Why being more human wins in an increasingly complex world

On 16 September 2017 the world’s champion rugby team suffered the heaviest defeat in their history, 57-0. Six years and one month later, in Paris, they beat the same opponents 12-11 to win a fourth Rugby World Cup, the first nation to win the title four times and the first to win back-to-back titles away from home. Many of the men on the field for the defeat were on the field in Paris. Same talent. Different result. The book is about what changed in between.

The book answers it layer by layer, from the foundation of behaviours through the organisation, the team and the career. It draws on eight years of watching the this team's system up close, and on almost thirty years of building inside organisations. Every chapter ends with exercises you can run in your own team the same week.

"While many will see it as a book about rugby, I see it as a blueprint for building organisations, teams and careers that thrive in an increasingly complex world."

what's inside

The book decodes the system from the ground up, the environment the leaders created and the organisation, the team and the career built on it.

Each chapter from Chapter 2 onwards ends with exercises to run with your own team, no tackling involved, and every template is downloadable from the resources page.
